The Wrap Dress, the Ultimate Versatile Piece for Spring

1 wrap dress, 3 outfits

Obsessed is an understatement. My clothes have to be multi-functional so I can wear them in lots of different ways. This is a must for me. So when I spotted this vintage wrap dress it was love at first sight. As in peanut butter & jelly (which I love by the way – No judgment please). Needless to say I was sensing an instant connection with this floral wrap dress. I mean, it’s after all the ultimate versatile piece for Spring! You can dress it up or down in a snap. Plus, a wrap dress is universally flattering. Do I need to say more? I bought it, of course. I must admit: I loooove the way the fabric hugs my waist while the V-neck exposes my collarbones. I am definitely in love! Here are three outfit ideas that hopefully will inspire you.

To Work

If your workplace has a casual dress code, wear your wrap dress like a kimono: with crop jeans and a t-shirt or a sweater underneath. Complete your look with flats, block-heel sandals or booties and a crossbody bag and walk into the day like a #girlboss.

For Brunch

Give it a sexy spin. Ditch the top, belt the dress over white jeans and add a straw basket bag. The combination with floral and white denim is timeless and it will put lots of Joie de Vivre in your day.

For a Romantic Date

Wear it as is: a dress. But don’t forget to add some glamour accessories such as a feather brooch or stunning earrings… Have fun!

  1. Hi Dominique! So glad you’re back! This dress is fantastic and so wonderfully versatile! You look fabulous in every outfit! 😊❤

    1. Oh Sarah I know you are thinking of me as I’ve been thinking of you too. I appreciated your last email so much. You warm my heart dear friend. I had to take some time for myself and my family in order to recharge my batteries. Feeling much better now. These two weeks away from the computer were necessary. Much love. xoxo

Cela semble fonctionner. Je me porte beaucoup mieux. Merci de ta gentillesse. xoxo

    1. Thanks Roda. The loft is stunning, right? And Marie-Claude did such a fabulous job. Love the makeup artist too. And the dress also, of course. I kept some pics just for our project! I will put them on our dropbox soon.

    1. Thanks Cris. I went over your site today during my lunch brake and read your post but could not comment because I was using my work computer. Lovely jewellery and beautiful pic of you! On my way to put my comment on your post. xoxo

  3. Nice to have you back Dominique 🙂

You look beautiful as always and I love this dress. The photos and location are fantastic too.

Sadly though, I have to report that I don’t like peanut butter….

    1. Thank you Darren. What a great place to shot it was. The lighting was perfect! I like but don’t eat peanut butter as my son has a severe allergie… He carries his Epipen with him all the time.

  4. I have a similar dress but in red and black that I love just wear it so rarely as It is too hot for Italy and at times too summery for Ireland but I never thought about using over trousers……….that’s a great idea😍

    1. Hello Ortensia! That dress will become my best summer friend! Perfect layering for our weather here. Glad you like the trousers idea. The good thing is you can also wear it with any kind of shoes: slides, snickers, block-heels…

  5. What an incredible and beautiful piece! I love the colors and how you were able to dress it up or make it feel casual. I can’t say enough about the backdrop as well. So perfectly put together! Completely gorgeous my friend 😘💗

    1. Thanks so much Lisa. I had lots of fun doing this shoot. The people, the clothing, the location… You know when everything is just perfect! I have to say that I am surrounded by people -like you, Darren and Roda- who are on fire and inspiring me with their energy, ideas and excitement. Happy Friday!

Puis ma copine a dû continuer à me dire que mes seins tombaient!
This dress is so beautiful but it made me laugh about brunch today. Yesterday I went shopping at the discount stores for a fresh summery wrap dress. I found a fabulous Royal Blue wrap dress with printed white outlines of flowers – so chic. Then I wore it to brunch…when I sat down the dress splayed open and my private parts were on display. Then my girlfriend had to keep telling my that my breasts were falling out! My husband and the waiter seemed to like it…

    1. Oh my, what a funny story, well not so much for you but you made me laugh once again… You know what this story would be a great one to tell in a Guest in Jest post for my friend Linda. See her blog over at : https://mainepaperpusher.wordpress.com/2018/03/30/guest-in-jest-38-3c-style/

So nice of you to translate your comment. I am trying to improve my English writing so I will keep practicing even if it takes me forever to write a single comment. So nice of you to stop by my blog. Nice to meet you!

  7. Love the dress – what a find! Love the 3 outfits you created as well. You’re right that it is so important to be able to wear an article of clothing in more than one way. That is something that I am still trying to master 🙂

    1. Thank you Sophie! Once you have all the essential items in your wardrobe it is easier to seek for the special clothes that offer versatility and a little Je ne sais quoi to your outfits. Start by looking for reversible clothing. It allows you to have two items in one piece. That means you double your outfit options. Good luck.

    1. I’m sure you can find one with a similar floral pattern. I saw some nice ones on Revolve’s site on sales. Good luck Miriam and thanks for your comment.
