My To-Read List For The Summer

Some of you already know it even if I don’t talk about it a lot, but I love reading. I’m an eclectic reader, and enjoy getting lost in a fiction story as well as being challenged by thoughtful writing. To me a perfect day involves a curl up in bed or on the sofa with a good book. I need to have a physical copy of the book as I like reading the old fashion way. I know I should opt for the electronic version or even try listening to audiobooks or podcasts as they are more eco-friendly, but I enjoy reading a book in hand as I often write notes and thoughts in it (when it’s my own). I can see though why audiobooks and podcasts are pleasurable for many people. They allow to get through more books each year because you can enjoy them while commuting, folding the laundry or exercising. Audiobooks also add another layer to the reading experience with the presence of the narrator. All this explains their growing popularity and it might convince me to give it a try… one day eventually.

  1. Reading truly does transport us doesn’t it? Though I must admit it’s been a while since I’ve been engrossed in a book as epic as Pillars of the Earth. How I loved that book!!!

    1. Yes I’m fine, but I could really go for a massage… Another one! 😄 I did lose myself in World Without End too. A remarquable book with beautiful characters, romance and intrigue… Just the way I like it!

    1. Oh, you will see the new frames that’s for sure… They are gorgeous! They are handcrafted by an artist from a long standing family tradition of master woodcrafters who is also an optometrist and an ex professional Rugby player.

    1. I think I will need to take one monthly weekend away from home to be able to go through that list… 😄 I’m enjoying so much the book you have sent me. Thanks. xoxo

    2. Funny as I was recently telling Lisa how much our team is in sinc. The four of us! By the way, I ordered for you this weekend the English version of Le Parfum (The Perfume). I will send it to you as soon as I get it. A must read! Can’t wait to read your post. ❤️

    1. I feel the same, Alison. Need to hold the book in my hands. I also like the smell of a new book. I would totally wear it as a perfume if it existed! I’m actually working on a post regarding the chemical compounds in the paper, which explain the differences between the smell of old books and new books. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not a big fan of ebooks. Try pressing your nose against an ipad! Thanks for stopping by my friend. Hope your day goes well. xoxo

  2. Oh wow! Plein de livres à découvrir! !!

Merci encore 🌼

  3. So glad that I am not the only “weirdo” who likes actual books. I do read a few on my computer, mainly those from authors who ask for a preview or book review, but otherwise….I want the book in my hands. I want to turn the pages, use a cute bookmark😉. I feel like I spend enough time looking at a computer screen💕

  4. Oh, you’re re-reading Ken Follett! I’m currently reading the latest in this series ‘A Column of Fire’. And I just love Terry Pratchett!!! 😄 Your reading list for the summer looks wonderful to me. I’ve got a couple of books borrowed from the library so those come always first before I can work on my TBR list. 😉
