Freedom of Expression Tag – Attitude & Believe

Darren over at The Arty Plantsman and Rory over at A Guy Called Bloke and K9 Doodlepip! have tagged me for this and I’m glad they did because the topics are ‘Attitude’ and ‘Believe’… Both equally important subjects in today’s society where one needs a reason to be kind. So it is my belief anyway, but then I think of all my WordPress friends and know that it can’t be, because they connect to each other to learn and broaden their horizons and they do so with so much kindness.

About the Tag

Every Thursday I will pick a topic, post photos or quotes or lyrics or a poem or an article about the “topic” and nominate 3 bloggers, who in turn will post about that SAME topic (in whichever way they want) and nominate 3 bloggers of their own, spreading “FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION” far and wide.

I believe in having the right attitude

To have attitude is much more than the way of holding one’s body, one’s gait, one’s outfit. Never forget the importance of these aspects nonetheless. Attitude is also the behaviour that one adopts according to the circumstances. For example, how we enjoy our victories and how we manage to overcome our failures depend on our attitude.
So, yes, I believe having the right attitude refers to a multitude of conducts. Kindness being one of them. Whether it’s small gestures -like door-holding, smiling at strangers, picking up litter on the street or showing gratitude to our WP friends in comments- or a higher act of kindness such as privately offering a friend a shoulder to cry on, kindness is an easy way to make our world a better place. Did I say EASY? Actually, being kind is not easy. Hell no. I am occasionally rude to people who are texting and walking on the street. They are basically making others responsible for their safety and selfishly assuming the world is going to move out of their way. Sometimes, I wish they would bump into a tree or a lamp post. This isn’t very kind, I know.
The relationship between attitude and behaviour impacts our states of mind, our openness to the world and our health in general. Several studies have shown that by changing the attitude of an individual, we can change his behaviour. The opposite is also true. One can change a behaviour to generate a change of attitude. Let us remember here that our attitudes define us. That’s what really allows us to differentiate ourselves. Some chose to simply be different with their clothing. I’m sorry to sound superficial, but I believe looking the best we can be is also important for our own happiness. The unique and extraordinary items such as handmade objects or vintage pieces will bring a little Je ne sais quoi to your looks.
I believe that being kind starts with ourselves. A good hygiene and maintenance go a long way to show people that you matter. Of course there are more meaningful things than clothes. What really makes the difference is our attitude towards others. In my book, kindness will always be very stylish. I also believe our attitude largely, but not always, acts in achieving our dreams and goals. But to me there is more to it then what this “formula” below seems to say. You decide if it is coincident or not.

Ohh, Darren and Rory are going to love this: Whiskey adds up to 100%!!!! Wait there’s more: Laziness = 105% and Procrastination = 192%. Result? Attitude is important for achieving our goals but like everything else in life, things are often more complex.

Attitude should also be reflected in

how we apply our “knowledge” through “hard work”!

So, if being kind seems like hard work sometimes, let’s not forget that just like exercise random acts of kindness should be done weekly in order to become a natural healthy way of living.

    1. Thanks Rory. Ah, speudo mathematic formulas … This is the kind of thing that catches the interest of people but which in my opinion makes no sense. But it did fit the text. Thanks again for thinking of me.

  2. What a great post Dominique. Love the formula and it is a perfect fit for this topic!

    I find being kind is not always easy. I, too, get irritated with people texting and walking. Or being unnecessarily loud and noisy.

    But it is important to try, of course. And it is less stressful to think nice kind thoughts than it is to get annoyed.

    You are always 100%.

    1. You are right as always. Think about nice thoughts, Eh? Or one could perhaps imagine that the application is coupled with a motion detector device that blocks an attempt to text and triggers an annoying alarm. Just a thought. By the way, this kind of formula makes me laugh… so ridiculous!

  3. Love this post and your message, Dominique! What comes to my mind is also what used to be taught by our parents – manners! They seem to evaporate more and more in this society which also seems to be part of people becoming less kind. That and also respect. All these things are actually not that difficult themselves but it’s hard to be nice when other people are just too rude and dumb and a thousand other things I don’t want to list now because I realise this is turning into a rant! 😂
    The formula is great, need to figure out what creativity will be.😉 xxxxx
