12 Blatant Things You Do When You Love Your Blogger Friends

You comment on their post and share their content, sign up to their newsletter, compliment their work, write Guest posts, use their affiliate links, follow them on social media, try their recipes, buy their books and t-shirts… These are a few ways you support your best blog buddies (BBB) and show your love. But are these “Internet Friends” real friends? Well, honestly, I never thought that genuine and positive friendship can be formed online… Until I started collaborating with two of them and exchanging emails with others. Then I had the chance to meet three of my WordPress pals face-to-face. Let me tell you —yeah, it is darn possible!
I’m not naive to believe that this is the case with all of my followers, but it certainly holds true for many of them. Some I have not even met yet, but feel we are so aligned that it’s like they are part of my family.
To celebrate my three years of Blogging with my BBB, and the many (at times silly) ways we show our love to each other, I bring you 12 blatant things you do when you love your WordPress friends more than your clothing —which, BTW, is perfectly alright… even if you are a fashion blogger.

1. You Pushed Respect Their Limits

IMG_5274Photography of 3C Style by The Arty Plantsman
Not everyone has a rebellious attitude. Some people see a barrier and respect the off limit zone. Yet when YOU are in the same situation, you can’t help but wonder what’s on the other side. And, of course, you have to find out. Your friend might be very respectful of the law but it doesn’t mean you have to restrain yourself from exploring, right? Even if it means being caught by the security guy who thankfully understand that all you wanted was the perfect ‘GRAM.

2. You Let Them Photograph You In Compromising Situations

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_205Photography by Mainepaperpusher
It’s not stylish to be laying on the sidewalk. But when it comes to keeping your friend laughing, you’d gladly do it so she has a blast and a photo to blackmail you with whenever she wants something else.

Photo to add – Unfortunately, we are still looking for this pic!

Worst nightmare for a fashionista —be caught wearing the SAME outfit as someone else. So you can imagine how embarrassing it is when it’s not ONE but TWO other people who unintentionally showed up on the corner of the street wearing the same T-shirt as yours. Of course, your friend wants to capture your awkward fashion encounter. And you just couldn’t say no —because you love her and, admit it, you thought it was funny too.
Have you ever been there?

3. You Accept The Lying And Pushing

unspecified-2Photography by The Arty Plantsman
Being an hostess to a bunch of visiting friends from other countries means doing lots of sightseeing tours around the city, and activities you wouldn’t normally do. But when it comes to pleasing your friends, especially the climbing and hyperactive one, you’ll make a special effort —even if it means:
  • sweating your way to the top of the Mont-Tremblant (the summit is at an elevation of 875 m – 2,871 ft);
  • being lied to: “It’s just over the next hill!”;
  • and being pushed forward so you won’t let yourself roll down the mountain. Note: In case you are wondering… Yes, the thought really crossed my mind.

4. You Admit Being A Coward

IMG_2114Photography by 3C Style
When your friend needs to relax, you take him to a Spa where he can have a restorative sensory bliss, a thermal experience your “Spa Virgin” pal won’t ever forget. And since it is customary to give your buddies priority, you insist he goes first into that FREEZING Nordic Bath —just being polite. But when comes your turn, and after seeing the expression on his face… Well, you just go back into the steam bath where it’s warm and nice. He’ll forgive THANK you, eventually. Because the chilling cold water provides health benefits for the skin, body and mind. And, of course, you knew the good effects of hydrotherapy.

 5. You Always Satisfy Their Thirst

IMG_2077Photography by 3C Style
Window shopping for hours without complaining is only one of the things a male friend would do to please his female blog buddy. But when he says he needs to sit down and have a drink, you oblige right away. And you take him to a nice and comfy pub where he can try local Quebec beers. Watching him “feeling his beer” is priceless. For the record, a smile speaks louder after two pints. Now, that’s an experience worth making a video of! See it, HERE

6. You Laugh And Cry With Them

Giphy.com
As busy as we all are, we always make time for our Best Blog Buddies. You stay up all night writing each other emails (and leaving ever-lengthening emails thread to your other partner in crime) or chat for hours on Skype, even if you have nothing special to say. Time flies when you are in company of friends. And you can’t help it but cry a little when it’s time to let go —only because it’s getting very late. Or is it because you’ve got to work the next day?

7. You Go To Great Extend For The Perfect Hug

IMG_0969Photography by 3C Style
Some see a snake and think about fashion accessories, such as beautiful handbags and feather boas. But for others, snakes are just one more critter to love —no judging! If your friend feels like the latter, and dreams of holding a boa ever since he’s a child, you make sure he gets that PERFECT hug. Hey, there might be health benefits of hugging a reptile too?

8. You Never Deny Their Needs For A Good Laugh

Photo 16-09-2018, 17 22 35Photography by 3C Style
Friends will make their best effort to bring a smile on your face and get you to laugh. Some mischievous ones will playfully mock you in awkward situations too. It’s OK. They are not laughing at you, they are laughing WITH you. So when an ostrich keeps pulling out your hair and your pal giggles, you let him. You know that laughter is the best medicine. But what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. No, you DID NOT, ahem, plan a revenge when you asked for that picture of him with the evil big chicken. And seeing your friend get pinched buttocks by the feathery beast (descendant of dinosaurs) was not funny —It was HILARIOUS! You only wish you had captured this moment on video.

9. You Save Them The Embarrassment Or Sacrifice Yourself

IMG_0787Photography by Invisible-No-More
As a blogger, you know your WordPress friends will take an enormous amount of pics while they visit you. As annoying as it is (sometimes), you understand because you do that too. But when it comes to taking a selfie, you are in way over your head. And your buddies know that. They will save you the embarrassment and desperately gladly give you a hand, so you can have that Instagram worthy photo.

A kind-hearted friend will always come to the rescue and snap a portrait of you with your chums. Even if her selfie skills are obviously limited too. Or perhaps she is just willing to sacrifice herself for the greater of all. Lol

10. You Constantly Encourage their Efforts

giphyGiphy.com
Most of us can’t resist seeing an adorable animal, along with hilarious or cute captions. So when your friend shows you his latest video featuring a raccoon that frankly doesn’t do anything special, you still think it’s cuteness overload, and you acknowledge his efforts. You even outperform yourself and find the perfect raccoon to deliver him pep “talks”/claps of encouragement. What else are friends for?

11. You’d Move Mountains For Them

IMG_2657Photography by 3C Style’s Husband (who BTW thinks his wife is having a mid-life crisis)
Climbing mountains makes us all sweaty, not to mention smelly. For the record, It’s not something we fashionistas appreciate much. But making sure your gal pal gets votes for a feature spot in a health and fitness magazine will motivate you to climb anything —even your father’s house! Hey, you’d move mountains to get people throw a vote her way.

12. You Go The Extra Mile

20190531_205710Photography by The Arty Plantsman
As a huge fan of critters of all kind, you can relate to your friends’ love of canines and, if one of them regrets not taking that picture of the golden Great Dane on her last visit, you make it your mission to find the precious dog. Because when it comes to the happiness of our friends, there’s not much we won’t do… even if it means driving around the city for a while trying to remember where it was, and having our clothes wrinkle. Hey, we always go the extra mile for our buddies.

Note: I am looking forward to meeting up with my dear friend Lisa so I can generate some more amusing stories.

I have lots of catching up to do with my blog reading. I took a break from social media for a few weeks. I needed to recharge my batteries. Hugs.

    1. Thanks Latoya. The WP community is wonderful indeed. When I started blogging I was a little scared because I had heard stories where people left unpleasant and nasty comments, but I’ve been blogging for three years now and I received only one comment of the kind. Happy to hear that you also have a positive experience with WP. Keep well my friend. xoxo

  10. You brought tears to my eyes I am sorry I have not been much of a friend but I am working 7 days 11 hours pretty much and hoping to get my life in a more harmonious peaceful mode then I might catch a plane just to meet you I mean it or if you want to come over please do so you will be most welcome I can show you around but if you come in summer be super ready for humidity and 40 degrees heat I say that because people underestimate the heat in Qld (this part of Australia can be unbearable in summer) but I love summer. Anyway I know I will meet you one day and I totally relate to online friends I have come across the most amazing kind people when I was almost giving up in believing that people were genuine and nice Suddenly I found my strength in them in all of you who were there with amazing words and encouragement and I thought wow there are gorgeous people out there and I need to let them back in my life. Thank you for being you and for being my friend. Much love cris

Keep up the good work. I would love one day to meet you, too. Perhaps when our kids are a little older it would be easier for us to travel. Sending huge hugs your way. xoxo

  12. What an absolutely fabulous post Dominique and such a wonderful tribute to your blogging buddies. I can totally relate because I’ve met a number of bloggers over my five years of blogging and most of them have become dear friends who we visit regularly. Awesome pics and captions. That photo of Darren and the emus brought back such fun memories of my other half getting pecked by a mob of emus (and he had way less hair than Darren!!) Thanks for sharing this post and all your fun experiences. Reading it I had a smile on my face from ear to ear. xx 🙂

  14. I can’t believe that I am just catching up on this one! I feel very guilty but I know you will forgive me because you are just so sweet. I had to laugh at every picture and it was such a warm and wonderful feeling reminiscing about my trip there. I’m still dying laughing at the pic I took of you on the sidewalk. I can’t believe you let me do that, and yes, I have it for blackmail should I ever need it! I also can’t believe that you and Darren searched the old city forever trying to find that Great Dane statue. I just love you two so very much. I don’t know what I would do without you, Darren, Dee Dee, and Lisa. I really must meet Lisa. I was so sorry that we couldn’t connect this year, but there is always next year! Hugs and love, my friend! 🤗💕🤗💕🤗

I really needed to step back because there are a lot of projects in the works. I had a lot of fun writing this post and it brought back so many nice memories. Thank you for sending me your photos by the way. I can not wait to see you and Bill again. Tomorrow, we publish our August edition of WFNC. I’m pretty proud of this issue. I hope you will like it too! Hugs dear friend.

  15. Such a fun post to read, Dominque. Congrats on 3 years of blogging! Blogging can be so fun and we make blogging friends a long the way, or friends who have to put up with our blogging and taking photos for our blog lol. Hahaha, you are very nice to sit with your friend when they say they want to go for a drink halfway during shopping 😀 Usually when I’m out I’m not ashamed of wanting to stop for photos so I can use them for my blog, and some of my friends were not used to tat at first 🙂
